Types of Massage We Offer
TX Health Centre offers several types of massage therapy. Your therapist may recommend a treatment approach based on your comfort level, pressure preference, symptoms, and goals.
Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage is a lighter form of Swedish massage. It is recommended for patients who are uncomfortable with deep pressure or heavy massage movements.
Gentle gliding movements, kneading, and circular movements are applied to the body. Movements are applied in the same direction as the flow of blood to the heart to support circulation, offer relief from discomfort, and promote relaxation.
Sports / Deep Tissue Massage
Sports and deep tissue massage uses more forceful massage movements to penetrate the inner layers of muscle and address deeply held tension.
This type of massage focuses on specific areas and may be used to support recovery from injury, soften scar tissue, and reduce chronic muscle tightness. Some soreness may be felt during or after treatment, followed by a greater sense of energy and relaxation.
Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu focuses on pressure points similar to those used in acupuncture, as well as sensitive areas formed from tight muscle fibres after injury or overuse.
The therapist applies firm pressure using fingers, thumbs, elbows, forearms, feet, or knees, combined with stretching, rotating, and joint manipulation. Like acupuncture, Shiatsu aims to rebalance energy flow along the meridians.
Reflexology
Reflexology applies pressure to points on the feet that correspond to nerve endings linked to organs, glands, or parts of the body such as the eyes, ears, and head.
Reflexology may help relieve tension, relax the body, reduce stress, and support balance. There are more than 70,000 nerve endings in each foot, interconnecting the spinal cord and brain with all parts of the body.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is a specialized form of massage that brings relief and comfort to pregnant women as the body changes.
It focuses on reducing swelling, preventing muscle cramps and back pain, and soothing the nervous system of the expectant mother. Pregnancy massage supports the physical wellbeing of mothers-to-be.
Which Massage Is Right for You?
The right choice depends on your symptoms, pressure preference, health history, and goals. Some patients prefer relaxation massage, while others may benefit from deeper pressure or targeted therapeutic work.
Professional Boundaries Policy
TX Health Centre provides professional therapeutic massage only. Sexual or inappropriate comments, jokes, requests, gestures, or behaviour are not permitted. Any inappropriate behaviour may result in the immediate end of the appointment, refusal of future bookings, and full appointment charges where applicable.
Massage Therapy Tips
After sports, deep tissue, or Shiatsu massage, some patients may find a warm bath helpful. The current clinic guidance recommends soaking in a hot bath with baking soda after deeper massage therapies.
It is also helpful to drink water on the day of your massage. Water supports hydration after treatment and can be part of a comfortable post-massage routine.
